A large percentage of Jewish prayer is giving thanks. Thanking God for being alive, for being able to walk and have a functioning, healthy body, even for the sun rising. When thanksgiving comes around, all I can think is “so what’s new?”
In general I think Jews are more in-tune with the whole giving thanks business, but if you find you can’t think of anything to give thanks for, I’d start with having the freedom to practice your religion, and that the Westboro baptist church hasn’t come to your town.
